    Description

Presented is a beautiful silver and cut glass footed bowl or dish. This is a continental European piece dating to around the first half of the 1800s. The glass is likely not original but fits the silver very well. The silver is done in a fabulous openwork design consisting of swags of grape clusters, leaves and vines with lion's head masks in between. The base of the silver portion is done in a triple-pointed form with openwork sides and applied lion's paw and acanthus leaf decoration. The glass is beautifully cut with a cross-hatched diamond design, which shows through the open silver portion attractively.
This piece is in good overall condition. The glass has no chips, no cracks, no breaks, and no repairs. The glass is sanded around the top, but this is covered by the silver when the glass is resting inside. The silver portion is missing one leaf and one of the smaller clusters of grapes, but is otherwise all intact. There are no monograms, no monogram removals, and no solder repairs.
This piece is stamped with the lettes ABE, likely a maker's mark, and another hallmark we unfortunately do not recognize. This piece is tested and guaranteed about 850 purity silver.
This piece measures about 4 5/8 inches in diameter and stands about 5 5/8 inches tall.
The total weight for the piece, including the glass, is 377 grams. The weight of just the silver portion is 158 grams or 5.6 regular ounces.
