Stunning Antique Austrian 800 Silver Sugar / Tea Box Caddy Bird Finial.
This is such a well made and lovely example of Austrian antique 800 silver dating to the mid 19th century. I was told it was made for use as a sugar box or sugar caddy although it could certainly be used as a tea caddy or perhaps as a dresser/ jewelry box. It is finely etched on the surface with a leafy floral design, has four scrolled paw feet and is topped on the lid with a bird on a branch finial. I have no key. The teensy hallmarks include a dogs head indicating it is Austrian 800 silver and an A indicating it was made in Vienna. The box is in excellent condition without breaks dents or repairs.
