    Description

This one could be earlier than the 1903, my research showing more like the Trap door days.
1903 Springfield rifle cleaning rod this has an aluminum egg shape swivel handle Threaded other end
Brass rod is 35 1/4” long
ORIGINAL MODEL 1916 RIFLE BARRACKS CLEANING ROD: As discussed on pages 292-296 in Gun Tools Volume I, this one piece barracks cleaning rod was issued with the Model 1903 Springfield and Model 1917 Rifles, and was stored in the barracks room arms rack. Measuring 35 3/16” from the bottom of the egg shaped handle, this rod is in excellent condition and is a very nice example of a fairly scarce cleaning rod to display with your Springfield Rifle.
THIS WOULD BE THE CLEANING ROD THEY KEPT IN THE BARRACKS TO USE BACK AT THE BASE. THE COMMUNITY CLEANING ROD. THIS ONES STARTING TO FALL APART, but at this point it’s still solid. The other one I had was aluminum, this one seems like it’s part lead..
