Rare 18th-19th Century Silver Toothpick Holder Figural Musician Colonial Palitera Palillera Palitero
Here is a very interesting figural toothpick holder that I believe is from Portugal, the base has a couple marks, one I think is the maker and the other is the Portugal mark. Figure is very elaborate of Colonial looking figure with bells from his triangle brim hat, playing a recorder type flute and wearing a drum on a belt. The hook of the belt has come unlatched but it is all there and present. Figure has wonderful details and features, the base has a monogram engraved and the stands feet are idealized paws. Overall heigh is approx 8”. These table ornaments were often found in important colonial estates and are highly collectible. I believe this particular example is extraordinary and is an important artifact from this early era. Great piece, out of an important estate collection.
