    Description

This bayonet is a nice military find. This unit is a prior to 1900 German made bayonet for the M1895 Chilean Mauser Rifle. The knife and scabbard have matching numbers  A2458. The unit was manufactured by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co. of Solingen which is marked on one ricasso and the other ricasso side show the Chiean crest with the star inside the shield. It is also marked with the marking of the Krupp Steel quality 3 circle mark. The knife measures 14 3/4 inches long with a 9 7/8 inch blade range. This unit measures 15 1/2 inches long overall in the scabbard. I have found it interesting to research how the German manufacturers flooded many countries with their weapons and how they seemed to play one country against another as was the case between Chile and Argentina and the resulting increase in sales. Thanks for lookng.
