    Description

Up for bid is an interesting old Italian silver lidded bowl from the Kingdom of Two Sicilies, 1832-1872.  The piece is about 3 7/8 inches tall by about 2 3/4 inches in diameter and weighs 116 grams.  The turned slide-in lid has bands of engine-turned decoration and a pointed finial.  The hand-raised body has similar decoration, and it stands on three curved paw feet with shell-form attachments.  It is monogrammed “PG” on the side.  It is marked on the base with the Neapolitan domestic 834 silver standard mark and a partial oval maker’s mark reading something like [G/ SIS??]. The lid is unmarked.
Condition on the piece is fairly good.  One foot appears to be repaired, and all are a bit bent. Otherwise there is just wear from years of handling.  An interesting old bowl!
