Presented is a wonderful continental European silver box. This piece dates to the mid 1700s. The lid of the box has a chased design of the Lamb of God bearing a cross with pennant, against a stippled background. The design is quite well done and detailed, surrounded by a cloud border. The interior of the box has a gold wash.
This piece is 850-900 purity silver.
The box is in great overall condition. The design on the lid is nice and crisp. The gold wash of the interior is in good shape. The hinge is a little loose, but still structurally sound. There are no breaks and no repairs.
The box is about 2 3/4 inches in diameter, and stands about 1 1/2 inches tall.
This piece weighs 84.6 grams or 2.9 regular ounces.
