    Description

    This is an antique Spanish Colonial silver baptismal font or shell. The applied, curved top piece is elaborately decorated with a foliate design and a musician in the center. Repoussé foliate work is on the raised portion at the back of the shell. The shell itself has 24 channels and an applied foliate rim. The dish rests on three leaf shaped feet. The shell measures 6 3/8 inches high (to the top of the back panel) by 10 3/4 inches wide by 10 1/2 inches deep (the back of the panel to the front rim). The piece weighs 26.9 troy ounces. The the shell is unmarked but guaranteed at least 900 silver. Typical wear, small dents, light scratches
