Description about Silica Gel Packets:
When used in closed places (where mold and fungus live and breed) silica gel whisks away moisture to create a protective environment of dry air. Silica Gel packaged in Cotton or Tyvek is Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) by the FDA to be used with Dry Food Packaging. We recommend using the Tyvek for Dry Food packaging as they are the industry standard and the Tyvek material is more durable and tear resistant.
To reactivate Silica Gel Packets (Cotton or Tyvek) place in oven safe sheet in the oven at a temperature of 235 degrees F for 2-3 hours. Keep in mind that residential ovens are not very accurate and temperature fluctuates inside the oven. The melt point on Tyvek is about 250 degrees, so you don't ruin your packet.
