Fine Austrian Sterling Silver White & Blue Guilloche Enamel Box

Description

Presented is a wonderful quality Austrian silver and enamel box. The box is made from 935 purity silver, which is slightly higher than sterling standard. The box has blue and white enamel on every side. The lid and upper sides have a leaf and vine design in opaque blue enamel, with white opaque enamel stripes. The underside of the box has translucent blue guilloche enamel, with machine turnings visible underneath, very beautifully done.
The box is in great overall condition. There are a few tiny chips here and there, none of which are really noticeable or significant. Only one of the chips, the one in the upper righthand corner of the box, goes all the way through to the metal, the rest are just flakes on the enamel. The hinge of the box is in great shape, and the lid closes nicely. There are no breaks and no repairs. We have added blue felt feet at the four corners of the bottom of the box, so that it will sit perfectly flat and the enamel will be protected from any abrasion against surfaces.
The box is hallmarked with the Austrian mark for 935 purity silver, as well as 935, Austria, sterling, and a maker's mark that is a little worn, but looks like 'EK'.
The box has approximate dimensions of 4 3/8 by 3 1/8 by 1 3/8 inches.
The box weighs 358 grams or 12.6 regular ounces.
