    Description

For sale is a fine large Portuguese silver salver by maker DPC, Oporto, 1853-1862.  The piece is 11 inches in diameter and stands about 1 1/2 inches tall.  It weighs 771 grams.  The round center has a stippled surface and is finely engraved with concentric floral bands.  It is set into a pieced everted floral gallery edge, and stands on three leaf and paw feet.  It is monogrammed “Guaresma” in the center.  It is marked with an Oporto town mark and [DPC] in an oval on the base, with an assayer’s gouge in between.  The town and maker’s mark are also stamped on the rim as shown.
Condition on the piece is very good.  There are just minor dings and normal wear from use, and no real damage.  A very fine piece of Portuguese silver.
