    Description

This instrument is in unimaginable condition considering its age!  There are imperfections but they are so slight that the instrument presents itself as being almost new. It was obviously well-cared for by its previous, and probably original owner.  Photos show the incredible condition of the valves and lack of wear to the brushed silver finish in common use at the time of manufacture.  It evidently was wiped down after each use so that body acid never affected the areas where normal wear is usually detected.  Either that, or the owner wore gloves when playing it !   I played a copy of this very same instrument through my high school years and it rewarded me with being selected for both district and state band competitions.  It should be noted that this was commonly known as a "baritone horn" and that its closely related instrument, the euphonium, is of a slightly larger bore, producing a darker, warmer sound.   Conn records the instrument as having been manufactured somewhere between 1933 and 1934.  We're both about the same age, but it has weathered the years far better than I have !  Included is a period correct Conn euphonium mouthpiece in excellent condition with solid silver plating still in great shape.  Pickup would be preferred but if shipping is necessary it will be very well packed and insured.  Sale only in CONUS.
