    Description

    Presented is an antique, Belgian silver cigarette case made by Simonet probably around 1918 or 1919. This cigarette case was presented to O.W. De Gruchy by the Comminssion for Relief in Belgium by Herbert Hoover, before he became President, and other top American officials. The top is engraved with the signatures of Herbert Hoover,Prentiss Grey, V.L. Kellogg and two others.
    The inside is marked Simonet 800 Bruxelles. This case is 800 purity silver.
    This case is in fair overall condition for its age. There are a few dents to the front and back covers, although nothing that can not be fixed. Part of the pin holding the hinge is missing.
    Dimensions: 3 1/4 by 4 1/4 inches.
