    Description

    This is an antique Spanish Colonial silver baptismal font or shell. The round and curved top piece is elaborately repoussé with a foliate design. The same repoussé foliate work continues on the raised portion at the back of the shell. The shell itself has 14 channels and a scollop engraved rim. The dish rests on three conch shaped feet. The shell measures 5 inches high (to the top of the back panel) by 8 3/4 inches wide by 8 inches deep (the back of the panel to the front foot). The piece weighs 12.6 troy ounces. The numbers “925” are etched on the underside. Typical wear, small dents, light scratches.
