    This highly unusual example of antique Dutch Sterling silver is in the form of an ashtray measuring 4” x 5” and marked with Dutch hallmarks indicating it was made in the late 19th century. Drinking or tavern scenes are frequently represented on such items but what makes this so unusual is that the travelers faces appear to be ghouls or skeletal like creatures. Is there a message there? A wonderful and unique item for sure and of course extremely well made.
