Description
Presented is a fine quality Danish silver asparagus or sandwich server. This piece dates to 1917 and was made by Axel V. Johansen. The blade of the server is pierced with an interesting abstract design, while the handle is done in an attractive minimalist style. The server is hand made, with the marks of hand hammering visible in the finish. This is a well made, sturdy piece, with a great feeling of weight in the hand. Use it to serve pancakes, sandwiches, or whatever else strikes your fancy. This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is stamped with the Danish triple tower mark with a 17 below it, for the year 1917, guaranteeing a silver purity of at least 826. Beneath that is a maker's mark for Axel V. Johansen, a Copenhagen maker, ENERET ('exclusive,' presumably a copyright type of mark), and the assay master's initials for Christian F. Heise.
The server is about 9 7/8 inches long.
This piece weighs 148 grams or 5.2 regular ounces.
