    Description

    This is an early and large 18th century or
    early 19th century South American
    or Spanish Colonial silver casket,
    most probably Peruvian,
    beautifully decorated with exotic birds
    and animals, exuberant vases filled
    with tropical flowers,
    presented on four ball and claw feet.
    The interior has traces of an old
    red velvet covering which still
    covers the base.
    No apparent marks.
    The casket measures 6 inches or
    15 centimeters wide,
    5 3/4 inches or 14.5 centimeters tall
    and 4 inches or 10 centimeters deep.
    The casket weighs 26.3 ounces or
    744 grams.
